Optimal placement seeks to locate a number of facilities (e.g. electric vehicle charging stations) such that the demands of consumers can be met at the lowest cost. This may involve minimization of transportation costs, maximization of distance between facilities, or other metric optimization: a hard combinatorial optimization challenge.
